How I would begin a horror story.

In Mary Shelly's Frankenstein or the modern Prometheus she begins her story with letters from a man named Robert Walton before actually starting the real story. Unlike Mary Shelly, I would have started my story right in the middle part of it in which all the main action takes place. Then I would have the story flashback to the time in which it actually starts. By doing this it would draw the reader in through question. An example would be starting the story with the main character being wounded and chased by some sort of monster. The reader would question "why are they running", "who's chasing them", or "why are they wounded". This would get the readers attention in having them want to know what happened and continue to read. After this point the story would flash back explaining what actually happened then slowly lead back into the climax.
