Out of the three elements I believe the supernatural is more affective. When there is a supernatural element in a story it makes it way more interesting. An example would be the story Frankenstein. If the monster was just a normal person ,instead of a gruesome creature put together with decaying body parts that was brought to life, the story would have been less interesting. Its the element of the supernatural that mainly brings the reader in. Since its supernatural ,people are not used to such different ideas which brings out curiosity and interest from the readers. Another example(one I'm personally not fond of) is the Twilight Book Series. If it was just an ordinary love story it would most likely be less popular but instead there are many elements of the supernatural such as vampires and werewolfs which is why it was such a big hit.

One thing I would hope to do during spring break

How I would begin a horror story.
In Mary Shelly's Frankenstein or the modern Prometheus she begins her story with letters from a man named Robert Walton before actually starting the real story. Unlike Mary Shelly, I would have started my story right in the middle part of it in which all the main action takes place. Then I would have the story flashback to the time in which it actually starts. By doing this it would draw the reader in through question. An example would be starting the story with the main character being wounded and chased by some sort of monster. The reader would question "why are they running", "who's chasing them", or "why are they wounded". This would get the readers attention in having them want to know what happened and continue to read. After this point the story would flash back explaining what actually happened then slowly lead back into the climax.
Advice to the next class (journal prompt)
Advice that I would give to the next class for the OGT's would be to prepare in advance by studying and taking the practice tests seriously. By taking the practice tests I was able to see what the ogts are actually like. When it was time to take the test I had applied what I learned from the practice tests and understood most of the questions that were asked.

Desperate Measures
A long time ago I had went to this park for a family barbecue. My uncle had brought his fishing boat and my dad brought our fishing equipment. It was a fun barbecue, everybody was laughing and having a good time. After about four hours me and my dad decide to use my uncles fishing boat to go out on the lake and fish. So we start heading out and got pretty far from the boat when suddenly the boat engine stopped working. My dad and me didn't sweat it and tried to get it to work again. After about ten minutes of trying it still isn't working. Then we remembered the oars. We looked around the boat but they weren't there. My uncle had removed them when helping us pack our fishing equipment. After being stranded for another twenty minutes. I decide to swim to shore and bring over the rope that was used to hold it. I brought the rope to the boat and my uncle helped bring it in.

Trust Me
A time in my life in which I had to convince someone of something would be when my Sister and I went hiking on a steep trial. It was a nice day to go hiking so we went off to the trails first in the morning. We arrive at the park and start heading into the Forrest trails. We hear what sounds like a waterfall and see this really steep trail. In order to get the best photo opportunity and experience we had to go down the steep trail. So I go first and slowly shimmy my way down to the bottom. Next was my sister. She's on her way down when suddenly slips and almost falls. Terrified, she quickly scurried up back to the top. My sister didn't want me to go and see the waterfall without her so she wanted to try again. She tried again and slipped a second time. Out of fear she stood there and waited. I told her the best way to get down steep trails is to slowly shimmy sideways. At first she didn't believe me so I told her to trust me and that it will work. She nodded her head and proceeded to head down just like I told her. After about five minutes she was down. We continued down the trail following the noise until we reached this astonishing waterfall. It was an amazing experience. Now the hard part would be getting back up.

Homework 2/20/14
Struggles I have encountered during high school would be in organization,English class ,and test taking. I struggle in organization because I'm a rather forgetful person and sometimes may forget or loose an assignment which is not good for my grades. I struggle in English class mainly because it's not one of my strongest subjects. A solution to to stop my struggle in English would be to ask more questions. I struggle in taking tests because when I study, I think it's enough but when it comes to take the test I sometimes panic and forget answers. A solution to this struggle would be to study more.

Ogt test feeling
The OGT test I feel less prepared for would be the Geometry test. I've never been that good with math in general because I always found it too complicated. I feel least prepared because I still have many formulas and rules to still learn that may be on the test.
Im not quite good with memorizing things especially math which is why I would find the geometry test to be difficult. A way I can change this feeling would be to study more. If I work my hardest and memorize what I think would be on the test I would have a better feeling on taking the Geometry test.
